Carnival of Personal Finance - Review
June 20, 2007
JD at Get Rich Slowly hosts the latest Carnival of Personal Finance.
It was a great carnival. I found several new interesting blogs while finding great old articles from blogs I already knew. Took me a while to go over all of them, but I was finally able to pick my favorites:
Favorites
Out of the 82, the ones I liked the most:
- No Credit Needed shows how to fight debt: Make multiple payments every month (smaller, but more frequently). It’s actually a great idea and I’m going to have to try it. Generally, if I can save an extra $500, I use it towards my car loans, but it will probably work better if I break it down into 5 payments of $100 in case I can’t save those $500.
- The Brokeass Student shows How to fight against debt collection agencies. A pretty complete guide and information on how to deal with them. An interesting blog that I found through the carnival and will be subscribing to it.
- My Open Wallet talks about Looking at things from a different perspective. Another blog that I’ve recently subscribed to.
- Accumulating Money suggests you should spend money doing things rather than owning things. There’s a joke I’ve heard a couple of times: What’s the difference between Americans and Europeans? Given $5000, Americans will purchase a big screen TV while Europeans will plan a trip.
- The Blueprint for Financial Prosperity writes that Money Isn’t everything and it doesn’t define you. Since I started reading PF blogs and blogging, Money is everything I think about. I’m going to have to do a lot of thinking about this.
- Queercents writes about financial compatibility being a factor in a relationship.
Is that the best test or what: “Honey, may I login to your bank account and peruse your last three credit card statements?” In my opinion that’s true intimacy!
- Advanced PF talks about medical tourism. I’ve actually heard about this before. Plastic Surgery Vacation Packages!!! You can get new boobs and also enjoy the beaches in South America, all for half the price of new boobs here.
- Living Behind The Curve talks about Frugality and why do you need to have an iPod with other solutions that are much cheaper out there. Preach on! I’m all about non-branded stuff.
